Delivery of the Australian PDPTC programme rescheduled in 2020

The Faculty of Education have announced today plans to reschedule the Australian delivery of the Professional Dancer’s Postgraduate Teaching Certificate (PDPTC) in 2020 due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The course, originally scheduled to commence this month, will now commence in January 2021 in a move that will offer a number of benefits to applicants already enrolled and those interested in applying.

With the dates now aligning to the calendar education year in Australia, graduating students will receive their RAD Registered Teaching Status alongside the qualification by the end of 2021, ready to enter students into exams in the 2022 Academic year.

The course will now also be more accessible to applicants outside of Sydney as students will no longer be required to stay in Sydney for 4 weeks for the onsite Intensive Study Period (ISP) at RAD Australia Headquarters in Darlinghurst. Instead, the ISP will be delivered as two weeks on-site and two weeks of online learning in July. Online delivery will also apply to the initial induction period of 5 days in January 2021.

RAD Australia Education and Engagement Manager, Shelley Yacopetti said

“The move to deliver more of the course online here in Australia is a reflection of a successful 100% online delivery for the course in Berlin in 2020. That decision was made by the Academy to enable those enrolled on the European course to complete their studies during the global COVID-19 pandemic. Here in Australia, with the vast geography of our country and the ongoing concerns surrounding intra, interstate and international travel it makes sense to adopt an online approach also. The Academy is highly versed in online delivery across a number of its programmes and people in general have been adapting more and more to online learning over the past few months as a result of COVID-19. This is a great opportunity for more professional dancers to consider this programme for their ongoing career options”

The closing date for the course has now been extended until 31 October 2020 to accept additional applicants besides those who have already secured a place. Payment plans are also available to spread the cost of the course over the first 6 months. Find out more about the programme here.
