RAD trained students progress through prestigious Prix De Lausanne

Congratulations to all of the Australian Selected Candidates for the 50th Prix de Lausanne, 5 of whom have been trained in the RAD syllabus and excelled in examinations and student events.

This is a fantastic opportunity for dancers selected from all over the world seeking to pursue a professional career in classical ballet, and many former prize winners of the competition are now leading stars with major ballet companies around the world. Former Australian Prix de Lausanne medalists include Lucinda Dunn, Olivia Bell, Harrison Lee, and Stephen McRae.

We applaud all selected candidates who are attending the competition, held from the 29th January to the 5th February at theT héâtre de Beaulieu in Lausanne, and wish them all the very best of luck on their continued journeys.

The five candidates attending are:

Henry Burgess - The McDonald College, NSW

Henry, who trains at the McDonald College in Strathfield NSW, won the Encouragement Award, Advanced Foundation at the Isobel Anderson Awards in 2022, and was Runner-Up, Intermediate at the Isobel Anderson Awards in 2021

His teachers, Jane Kesby and Lindsay Ellman-Brown say "Henry is a very self-motivated and talented student and it has been a pleasure preparing him for this prestigious competition and we wish him all the very best for an inspiring time at the Prix de Lausanne."

Claudia Gordon - Tanya Pearson Academy, NSW 

Claudia Gordon is a fulltime student at Tanya Pearson Academy in St Leonards, NSW, where she has participated in yearly RAD exams since 2016. In 2022 Claudia was a semi-finalist in the Advanced 1 level at the Isobel Anderson Awards, and a finalist in the 2020 Awards.

Halle McGregor - National College of Dance, NSW

Halle has been participating in RAD exams since 2014, and trains fulltime at the National College of Dance in Newcastle, under registered teacher and RAD Examiner Elise Frawley and Brett Morgan.  Halle was the winner of the Advanced 1 Level at the Isobel Anderson Awards in 2022.

Benjamin Moss
- Alegria Dance Studios, NSW

Ben attends Alegria Dance Studios in Woolloomooloo in Sydney, NSW. 2022 was a bright year for Ben, who won The Isobel Anderson Awards Most Outstanding Dancer and was also the New South Wales Finalist for the Australian Advanced 1 Bursary.
Ben's teachers, Hilary Kaplan and Archibald McKenzie say "Ben Moss is an unassuming, talented, hardworking and determined student who has been an honour and pleasure to prepare for this prestigious competition. We wish him all the very best and are with him there all the way! Chookas Ben!"

Emily Sprout - Prima Youth Classsical Academy, QLD

Emily, student at Prima Youth Classical Academy in Geebung, QLD, did her first RAD exam in 2016 and was the Winner of the Intermediate Centenary Medal at the 2021 Jacqueline Morland Awards and the Winner of the Advanced Foundation level at the 2022 Jacqueline Morland Awards. in 2022 she also won the Sydney Eistedfodd Ballet Scholarship.

Kaytlyn Bell-Blissner, Emily's teacher and director of Prima Youth Ballet states "Prima is humbled to have our beautiful academy student Emily Sprout selected as a semi finalist at the prestigious Prix De Lausanne. Emily has been training with Prima under the Royal Academy of Dance syllabi since the age of five and it has been an honour to witness her progression over the past 11yrs."
