MEET THE FACULTY! Chylie Cooper - Ballet
Chylie was born in Thailand but grew up in Adelaide studying with RAD teachers Jacqueline Tucker and Christine Underdown. After graduating from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) with a Diploma in Dance she joined Dance Theatre Victoria, then danced with David Prudham’s Australian Dancers Company in Perth for its 1998/99 seasons. She also danced with West Australian Ballet whilst in Perth. In 1999, Chylie returned to Adelaide to join Australian Dance Theatre under the direction of Garry Stewart. From there Chylie moved to Sydney and joined Sydney Dance Company in 2000. In 2011, Chylie joined MOD Dance Company for a season premiere at Star city. During the the past seven years Chylie has performed independently and taught in Sydney at Newtown High School of Performing Arts and Tutustudios. She is currently teaching at the Australian Dance Theatre.
Daniel Jaber - Contemporary
Daniel Jaber was a performer with Garry Stewart’s Australian Dance Theatre and in 2013 he was commissioned to create a new work on the company, ‘Nought’ which was subsequently nominated for a Helpmann Award for Best Choreography in a Ballet or Physical Theatre work and won Best New Work and Most Outstanding Choreography in the 2014 Dance Australia Critics Survey Awards. He has guest performed with National Theatre Mannheim, Stadttheatre Freiburg and BalletLab. He has choreographed work for companies such as: Expressions Dance Company (now Australasian Dance Collective), Houston Ballet 2, Qantas, Australian Tourism Awards, Adelaide Fashion Festival, Dubai Festival City and Dance Moms. He has lectured and created student works at New Zealand School of Dance, Queensland University of Technology, Adelaide College of the Arts and Transit Dance.
Amelia Sanzo - Jazz
Amelia was born and raised in Adelaide and began her Musical Theatre/Dance training locally at age five and later moved to New York City at the age of 17. She received a 12-month scholarship to train full-time at the Broadway Dance Centre and her time in New York allowed Amelia to connect with world class renowned choreographers and transformed her into a working professional. Since returning to Australia, Amelia has had the opportunity to work extensively, most recently completing the 2021 National tour of West Side Story (Opera Australia/GWB Entertainment). Other Credits Include: Disco Wonderland (2021), Red Bucket Follies/Broadway (2018), The Barton Gala (2021), Sensory Underground - Federation Square (2020), Australian Cricket Association (2019), Strikers Big Bash (2015-2020), Greatest Musical Moments (2020), Australian Medical Association Gala (2019). Amelia is thrilled to be home and cannot wait to connect and share her experiences with the Adelaide dance community.
Ryan Turner - Hip hop
Ryan has been dancing for over 20 years and has developed his training predominately with Flava Dance Studios where he has competed at multiple World Battleground Championships, as well as training in Los Angeles and New York. Ryan has also had success as Co-Choreographer with ADM “Adelaide Dance Movement” competing at numerous Championships and showcase performances. Ryan has been a prominent dancer/choreographer with Ding Productions and has performed at many major events at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide Entertainment Centre and numerous performances around Australia. Ryan has made a strong dance career as a teacher/choreographer at various dance studios and schools across South Australia. A passion for teaching and working with many dance levels and ages and seeing tremendous growth in all the students has been a continuous highlight in Ryan’s career.
Rosana Dobré - Tap
Rosanna’s involvement in dance spans over 30 years, starting at the age of three when she began her training in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary and Music Theatre. Graduating from the ISVP program at NYC’s Broadway Dance Center in 2011, Rosanna also obtains a Masters degree in Teaching, and has completed her CSTD Teaching Diploma and Certificate in Tap and Theatrical Dance. Rosanna currently runs the Dance program at Pulteney Grammar School, and is part of the Performing Arts faculty at the University of Adelaide and TIDC Performing Arts Studio. Some of her most recent choreography credits include Matilda (PGS), SA’s Festival of Music (PSMF), and Anything Goes (MCMTC) which was nominated for a TASA award. Other choreography highlights include performances for international companies such as IKEA and Nike. Rosanna’s onstage appearances range across several roles in local theatre productions as well as numerous television appearances. She is a regular performer for Ding Productions and is looking forward to sharing her love for dance with you all this Festival.
Bridget Hancock - Lyrical
Following extensive training in all facets of dance in Adelaide, Bridget has been working professionally since she was 18, getting her break in the Australian national tour of ‘Anything Goes’ (GFO/Opera Australia, 2015), where she played the role of ‘Virtue’ alongside Caroline O’Connor and Todd McKenney. She was also a member of the top 100 dancers on the televised 2014 season of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Australia (Channel 10). For the past 3 years she has been performing onboard Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of Seas as a showgirl in their production show of ‘Live Love Legs’, and in 2019 was cast in the role of ‘Host’ and lead singer of their featured show ‘Pixels’. Between contracts Bridget has taught dance in Adelaide and Melbourne as well as adjudicated state-wide competitions and choreographed for corporate events. She is also a qualified Pilates and Barre instructor with KX Pilates with a passion for fitness and technique.
