Business support offered for Victorians as lockdown continues in Melbourne

It was announced on Wednesday 2 June that Metropolitan Melbourne will remain in lockdown for a further 7 days from 11.59pm on Thursday 3 June, whilst Regional Victoria will come out of lockdown at the same time but be under further restrictions which prevent dance studios from opening at this stage.

With this news, RAD Members should brace and be prepared for the easing of restrictions to take time. This will undoubtedly have an ongoing impact on businesses and RAD Australia urges Members to explore the Government’s Business Costs Assistance Program which opens on Thursday 3 June. Through this program Victorian businesses could be eligible for up to $5,000 in support. Whilst there is not a great deal of detail available at the time of writing, to be alerted when that becomes available Victorians can register for the Business Victoria Update newsletter to receive an email this week. Read more about this support in the Acting Premier’s media statement here.

RAD Australia is also monitoring the news for announcements of a possible Job Keeper reinstatement by the Commonwealth Government as called for by the Victorian Government and mentioned during the press conference on Wednesday 2 June. Should this be confirmed we will contact our Victorian Members to let them know.

We are currently exploring what flow-on effect today’s news will have on upcoming RAD Exams and the Winter Workshop in Victoria and will make announcements about this in the coming days.

In support of one another and to discuss any broader effects of the above, we have scheduled a Members’ Meetup on Zoom for Wednesday 9th June and will I provide further details on the time and how to join this shortly.

We appreciate this is very challenging news for our Victorian Community and encourage anyone struggling to reach out to friends, family, colleagues or to other organisations for professional support.
