Winners announced for the 2023 inaugural Shirley Treacy Awards

RAD Australia is thrilled to announce the winners of the inaugural Shirley Treacy OAM FRAD Awards. The presentation of the finals, which marked the first truly hybrid student event delivery of its kind in Australia, took place via Zoom.

Following heats in Cairns, Rockhampton, Townsville, and Mackay, the semi-finalists were chosen from an open class. The finalists were then filmed, on the same day, performing their Syllabus Variation, with their videos subsequently sent to esteemed adjudicators Melissa McCabe and Christian Luck for their deliberation.

The winners were revealed in a special Zoom presentation yesterday (Sunday) hosted by Queensland Regional Manager Nadia Parker, with adjudicator Christian Luck and Lia Cox, Head of Department - Examinations and Regions, joining as special guests- there were over fifty people who attended.

The Shirley Treacy Awards serve as a memorial tribute to their namesake, industry icon Shirey Treacy OAM FRAD.  Ms Treacy was a highly regarded figure in the dance world, and these awards showcase the hard work and perseverance she passionately advocated for.
