WA Festival of Dance 2021 Winners Announced

The WA Festival of Dance 2021 returned to a full program and its usual slot over the Queen’s Birthday weekend in June. 465 entries were received for the event which spans across five days and culminates in a Gala evening performance.

400 students aged 10 years and over competed for a range of awards and prestigious scholarships. This year’s winners include Evelyn Hodgkinson Scholarship (10-12 years) recipient Millie Cottey from The Graduate College of Dance and Gay Cruickshank Scholarship (13-14 years) recipient Rhett Davies from Perth Classical and Contemporary Coaching. The Joan Stacy Scholarship (15-16 years) recipient was Sonja Braunl from The Perth School of Ballet, whilst the Linley Wilson Scholarship went to Zane Smith -Taylor from Perth Classical and Contemporary Coaching. This year’s ensemble performance award, The David McAllister Cup was awarded to Perth Classical and Contemporary Coaching. Download a full list of the winners here. Special thanks during this year’s event go to Aurélien Scannella, Sandy Delasalle-Scannella and Melissa McCabe who stepped in when it was clear David McAllister AC wouldn’t be able to adjudicate as planned due to the recent COVID lockdown in Victoria. We’d like to thank all our other adjudicators, faculty, volunteers and staff for ensuring this year’s event was a resounding success.
