All Victorian Studios can reopen from Thursday 17 June at 11.59pm

RAD Australia was pleased to see updates applicable to the dance studio sector announced by the Acting Premier in his daily press conference on Wednesday 16 June. See a copy of the media release here.

Restrictions are still in place and the important information for dance studios is summarised below.

For regional Victoria from 11.59pm Thursday 17 June

Indoor physical recreation & sport can increase capacity adhering to the following:

  • Density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm
  • Maximum venue capacity of 300
  • Maximum group size of 50 people indoors

For Melbourne from 11.59pm  Thursday 17 June

Indoor physical recreation & sport can reopen adhering to the following:

  • Density quotient of 1 person per 4sqm
  • Maximum venue capacity of 50
  • Maximum group size of 10 per class

RAD Australia understands and sympathises with the ongoing frustrations that these density quotients cause to teachers and studio owners. We are continuing to lend our support for sector advocacy as they appeal for an increase in density quotients for dance studios. However, we have advised Members that we anticipate these restrictions will stay in place for a further week at the least.

Whilst not the hoped-for announcement today, we are choosing to see the positive side of this news and embrace the opportunity for students to return to class as much as is feasible this coming week under the above parameters.
