About Carissa

As a Registered Teacher with the RAD since 2008, I love being able to provide quality, creative, charismatic dance lessons to all ages.

Dance provides such a wonderful way for all to express ourselves, a place to establish a sense of well-being and family-like relationship with all you dance with and learn with.

I adore my Carisma family and cherish the wonderful opportunity I have to love what I do and share my knowledge, experience and passion with all I can inspire.

What made you choose to become a Silver Swans Licensee?

As a teacher of adult dance for many years I wanted to be able to offer a class more tailored to the Silver Swans age group.

What do you tell people who are interested in becoming a Silver Swan?

Experience movement, enjoy creating and exploring dance through a slower placed class.

Do any of your Swans take RAD exams or learn any of the RAD syllabus?

Yes, Discovering Repertoire Class and Variation. Both Jill and Fiona just received back their level two class results – both Distinctions for Level 2!

Besides the enjoyment of dance, what do you think Silver Swans get out of coming to your classes?

Friendship. Greater flexibility. Improved range of movement. Greater balance.

How does dance help build resilience in older women?

Dance builds strength and confidence and helps to regain positive body image as the participants gain improved posture and in turn, better poise and grace.
