Events, Exams and Special Measures – a COVID-19 Update

Over the past few weeks RAD Australia has been monitoring very closely the situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) to ensure the safety of our students, audiences, Members, faculty and staff. We have been reviewing government advice daily and applying this to our discussions as well as the many external factors which play a part in the delivery of our student events activities nationwide.

Unfortunately, we have come to recognise that broader mitigating factors outside of our control such as international and national travel limitations, isolation controls, venue closures and of course, the threat to the health and wellbeing of our faculty and students all have to be considered when deciding to proceed with our various activities.

In this statement we have reviewed each aspect of our business carefully and have factored in all appropriate concerns, advice and external limitations to come to a range of decisions.

We hope these measures will only in place for the short term and encourage everyone to follow current health advice to ensure Australia can return to ‘business as usual’ as soon as possible.  Thus far this statement applies to events up to and including 1 June. We shall, of course, continue to monitor the situation and adapt and update accordingly. In the meantime may we draw your attention to one final thought….

As dancers we are probably some of the fittest members of community and by continuing to dance we ensure we are as healthy as possible should we need to fight off the virus at any stage. We are also reminded once again of the emotional value of artistic expression during times of stress so we urge you to continue to dance, even if there is no one watching for a short time!
