Happy International Day of Older Persons
Saturday 1 October is International Day of Older Persons and we'd like to take this opportunity to celebrate our older learner community of Silver Swans and invite you to join them in a ballet class.
Research shows that 75% of the factors affecting quality of life and longevity are related to lifestyle, while only 25% are hereditary. This means that getting more active whatever your age, and dance, in particular, can play a vital role in ensuring a longer and better quality of life.
Silver Swans encourages people over 55 years to explore movement in a creative way in the dance studio. For the past four years, we have been training Silver Swans teachers all over the world to create a global community of older learners who experience the joy, wellbeing and social connection ballet can bring. Our Swans report having increased mobility, improved balance and overall cognitive improvement. They also reflect on classes being a wonderful opportunity for social connection and community which have increased health and happiness.
