Festival of Dance 2020 - WA

Normally held over the WA day long weekend in May/June the Festival of Dance WA was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Australia.  This is the newly rescheduled date.

RAD Australia invites students to take part in the Festival of Dance WA 2020. This Festival is open to students from all methods of training aims to bring together the dance community in a positive and uplifting way.

The Festival of Dance gives WA dancers the chance to compete for a range of awards including four coveted and prestigious scholarships and has long been a springboard for the careers of many aspiring and pre professional dancers in the region.

To hold this event in 2020 is particularly exciting as Western Australia emerges from COVID restrictions and dancers are now able to return to the stage and perform. RAD Australia took pains to take many considerations into account in deciding to go ahead in 2020 with the health and safety of dancers, faculty, guests, staff and audience paramount.  Ultimately, our decision to proceed was based on our desire to give young dancers the opportunity to continue to pursue their dance dreams and goals in the face of adversity.

Your support is appreciated

We are looking to secure further financial support and sponsorship for this event in what has been a tough year for our industry. This event aims to develop and strengthen the dance community from grass roots to a professional level and employ and support freelance dance artists. The event also includes a Gala performance, usually with professional dancers from our state company, West Australian Ballet and employs professional freelance dancers, choreographers and teachers. If you can sponsor or donate in any way we invite you to get in touch with Shelley Yacopetti at the below.
