Congratulating the Prize Recipients of WA Festival of Dance 2024

RAD Australia is thrilled to announce the outstanding success and celebrate the winners of the WA Festival of Dance 2024, held from May 30 to June 3 at the John Curtin College of the Arts in Freemantle. This year’s Festival saw an extraordinary showcase of talent, dedication, and passion, captivating audiences and celebrating the very best of Western Australia’s dance community.

Over 300 dancers participated in the Festival, with dance enthusiasts and supporters purchasing over 2000 audience tickets across the five days. The event featured a series of spectacular performances, culminating in a breathtaking Gala evening on Monday 3rd June. Highlights included performances from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and guest artists from the West Australian Ballet, adding to the Festival’s grandeur and excitement.

Philippa Lynas, Regional Manager for SA, WA, & NT, shared her enthusiasm:

“I was truly blown away by the talent and professionalism displayed onstage throughout the Festival of Dance. Dancers from across Western Australia showcased passion, determination, and a love of dance across all age groups. The event culminated in a Gala evening featuring breathtaking performances from our scholarship finalists and award recipients. I can’t wait to return in 2025.”

We were honoured to have an esteemed panel of adjudicators, including David McAllister AC, Vicki Attard, Brooke Jacobs, Melissa McCabe, Gay Cruikshank, and Carina Roberts. Their expertise and insights were invaluable in evaluating the remarkable performances. Carina Roberts expressed her admiration:

“The quality of these young WA dancers that I was privileged to watch over the weekend was incredible. I felt extremely humbled to be able to ‘sit on the other side’ at a competition that gave me many wonderful memories as a young dancer myself.”
