Announcing the Results of the 2024 Shirley Treacy Awards Semi-Finals in Mackay, QLD
We are delighted to share the results of the 2024 first of the Shirley Treacy Awards Semi-Finals, which took place in Mackay, QLD. The event, adjudicated by the esteemed Elizabeth McGirr and expertly taken by class teacher Robyn Franke, showcased the incredible talent and dedication of young dancers from the region.
We were thrilled to see so many promising young dancers excel in open class work and experience new opportunities in their dancing!
A heartfelt thank you to our sponsors and everyone who contributed to making this event a success. Your support and commitment are invaluable to the RAD Australia and the participating dancers.
Semi-Finals Overview
The Shirley Treacy Awards offer a unique platform for registered students from each city to participate in an open class adjudicated by an experienced RAD examiner. After each class, the examiner selects and announces the finalists, who then perform their chosen dance or variation as a solo. For the Advanced levels, this includes a contemporary solo. These performances are recorded by the RAD and securely sent to our guest adjudicators, who will later determine the overall prize recipients.
This year, we are thrilled to provide finalists with the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience during a relaxed finalist presentation after the official finals recording. This special presentation allows parents, family, and teachers to celebrate the finalists' achievements in a supportive and joyous atmosphere.
