Winners of the 2024 Shirley Treacy Awards Finals Announced
On Sunday 8 September, the Shirley Treacy Awards Online Awards Presentation was the culmination of the semi-finals held during August and September, in Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and Rockhampton. Our guest adjudicators Juliet Burnett and Mitchell Rayner, both former dancers at The Australian Ballet, assessed all the finalist performances from all cities, and announced the prize recipients.
The Online Awards Presentation was a great success with over 50 attendees watching from across QLD. Some watched from home, others were gathered in their studios, while some were at a competition and viewing from backstage.
During the presentation all the finalist recordings from each city were screened and adjudicator Juliet Burnett was live on the Zoom representing herself and co-adjudicator Mitchell Rayner. They said,
"Well done to all of the competitors. It was a real pleasure to watch all of you perform. We were particularly impressed with the high standard of technique, artistry and maturity shown throughout your work. It’s always so nice to see the next generation of dancers coming through and developing into inspiring young artists.
Again, a big congratulations to all of you for such wonderful performances and remember that even if you didn’t win a prize today please keep working hard and keep doing what you love!"
